The GQF Fellows Program brings together a globally selected cohort of emerging leaders from across industry, government, research, and policy. Representing key innovation hubs around the world, Fellows participate in curated programming, cross-sector dialogue, and immersive experiences within Illinois’ quantum ecosystem. Designed to foster international collaboration, the program connects rising leaders shaping how quantum technologies will address global challenges.

Daniel Hunter
Daniel Hunter is a partnership and business development professional with over a decade of experience spanning across quantum, space, defence, and cyber security sectors. Currently Manager, Strategic Partnerships at Quantum Australia, Daniel builds connections between industry, academia, and government to accelerate the adoption and development of applied quantum technologies. Daniel previously served as Investment Director, Critical Technologies at the Australian Consulate New York, generating over $38M in international trade and investment outcomes. He holds a BA from the Australian National University. Outside of work, Daniel is a keen basketball player and enjoys scuba diving around the world.
Myriam Belisle
Myriam Belisle, is an Investment director at Investissement Quebec International, based at the Quebec Government Office in Chicago. . Myriam has been involved in the development of Quebec’s first innovation zones, including the quantum innovation zone, DistriQ, and the microelectronics innovation zone, Technum. She has also been actively involved in various standardization and investment committees, as well as in government and private sector outreach initiatives supporting the development of a quantum-ready economy. In parallel, she has worked as a lecturer at the Quantum institute of University of Sherbrooke, sharing her expertise at the intersection of entrepreneurship, talent development, and innovation.

Dr. Rami Abi-Akl
Rami Abi-Akl is the head of the Digital Technologies and AI Department at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs that he launched in 2024, to consolidate the French international strategy on AI, Quantum, Compute, Data, Cyber and Telecom.
Prior to that, he led tech cooperation between France and the USA, launched La Synapse, the French Embassy’s deep tech accelerator, and was in charge of the national plan for deeptech development in France at the Ministry of Economy.
Rami is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique (X) and MIT (PhD in Mechanical Engineering), and is a member of the French Corps des Mines.

Dr. Makoto Minohara
Makoto Minohara’s research expertise lies in spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation and the development of functional oxide materials. He is currently leading multiple research projects focused on microwave components, cryogenic devices, and cryogenic refrigeration systems for large-scale quantum computing. I am also contributing to the establishment of G-QuAT as a founding member.

Dr. Jessica Wade
Dr Jess Wade is a Royal Society University Research Fellow and Lecturer in Functional Materials in the Department of Materials at Imperial College London. Her research considers new materials for optoelectronic devices and quantum technologies, with a focus on chiral systems and the identification of strategies to control photon and electron spin. She is co-Director of Imperial’s Centre for Quantum Engineering, Science and Technology, and serves on the UK Government’s Strategic Advisory Board for Quantum. Outside of the lab, Jess is involved with several science communication and outreach initiatives. She is committed to improving diversity in science, both online and offline.
Marta Estarellas
Marta P Estarellas is the CEO of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, a Barcelona-based full-stack quantum computing company pioneering hybrid digital-analog quantum platforms. Qilimanjaro focuses on developing analog quantum computers and hybrid quantum data centers to fast-track quantum advantage and unlock global access. Before joining Qilimanjaro, Marta was a researcher at the National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo and earned her PhD in Physics from the University of York. Her multidisciplinary background spans chemistry, physics, and computer science, with studies across Europe, USA and Japan.
Zizwe Chase
Zizwe Chase is an University of Illinois Chicago assistant professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department. He is a former Bridge-to-Faculty scholar at University of Illinois at Chicago and a former Postdoctoral Fellow in the SAMPL group of the Physics Department of Howard University. He received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Morehouse College, B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and PhD. in Chemical Engineering from Washington State University. His research interests include developing 1-D and 2-D quantum materials for quantum communication applications and novel catalytic systems for energy applications.
